Those Who Inspired Me 39: Ellen Shane

Ellen Shane And The Children Of Successful Educational Achievement

Written by Tom Wilcox (PoP’s Podcast Manager)

My conversation with Ellen Shane taught me to see and appreciate how different people experience grief and walk through trauma.

I saw in Ellen an overwhelming drive to vindicate the death of her daughter by making her life mean something.

She did this by seeing a need that her daughter was experiencing and finding a way to address that need in the name of Emily (her daughter).

Now she leads a local organization with her sights set on turning it into a national phenomenon to help bring middle school students through to graduation by way of encouragement and one-on-one mentoring sessions.

When you are listening to this episode, I invite you to think about how you can use the trauma in your life to make an impact on the world around you.
